Masters Level Clinical Intern

Cara Slaughter is a final-year graduate student at Adams State University,
where she is pursuing a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. With a
personal understanding of addiction and the recovery process, Cara is dedicated to
collaboratively shaping positive change and passionate about helping others to overcome their
trauma, rediscover authenticity and lead a healthy and fulfilling life. As a counselor she wants to
encourage treatment for all with emphasis on support for high achieving women with substance
abuse issues. Cara believes in meeting people where they are at, effective communication, and collaboration to foster positive changes. The utilization of integrative approaches, behavioral therapies, Brainspotting, and neurofeedback are specific areas of interest.

Originally from Northern Colorado, Cara loves the area and enjoys spending time with her
family and friends. She has a dog and cat that are the boss of her house. She spends her free time
on the lake, trying new adventures, or lost in a good podcast or book.

Cara’s rate is $95.00 per clinical hour. Please inquire about scholarship availability as needed.

Barbara Clark, MA

Masters Level Clinical Intern

Barbara Clark, a Master’s-level graduate student, is dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing space for you to explore the challenges you’ve faced in the past, present, and future. She understands that the past informs the future, and she specializes in treating childhood trauma. Barbara aims to help you achieve your present-day objectives and experience the joy you desire and deserve. By removing the daily obstacles of trauma symptoms, Barbara guides you as you begin a new journey toward the life you want. She appreciates that each person is unique, and the way trauma and life stressors manifest in a person’s life varies.

Barbara specializes in childhood trauma, anxiety, and depression. She has experience in crisis-line work, and has helped many through crisis. As a military spouse and mother of three, she intimately understands the complexities of military family dynamics.

Barbara’s first Master’s degree is in Clinical Psychology, and she is currently pursuing her second Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. 

Barbara is particularly skilled in Brainspotting, a cutting-edge therapeutic approach that can be individualized for each client and treat emotional symptoms at their root. Barbara’s ultimate aim is to guide you towards finally finding your internal peace, fostering a sense of hope and optimism in your journey.
